Custom iPhone app development for ambitious founders

The iPhone was the first device to make the word “app” part of our everyday vocabulary. Today, over 45% of the US depends on an iPhone—and this audience has substantial buying power.

Per device, iPhone users spend an average $100 per year on in-app purchases and premium apps. By 2024, spending on non-game apps is expected to reach $58 billion in the App Store.

It’s a good time to be an iPhone app founder, and our team can help you get your app off the ground.

Our founders have been building iPhone apps since 2011. Today, our clients’ apps are used by companies like...

We start with your vision for your app #

Our iPhone app design and development process revolve around this principle: your vision comes first. When you work with us, you don’t just get an app development shop that cranks out code then sends you a bill. You get an in-the-trenches partner.

Here’s what that means for you:

  • Roadmapping Session: Every project starts with a Roadmapping Session and process we’ve spent over 3 years perfecting. From experience, we know a clear roadmap de-risks the entire app building process. Our sessions routinely save founders thousands of dollars and months of time.
  • Turn-key app development: Receive a fully functional, ready-to-launch app with every feature you need to delight your customers.
  • 100% transparency: Never guess how the project is going, what happens next, or how you can stay involved.
  • Expertise in startups and B2B: Work with someone who understands the unique challenges you face as a startup and B2B company. Such as longer sales cycles, strict security and user management practices, and the need to move quickly.
  • Founder-friendly contracts: Own all your IP and partner with us month-to-month; maintain ownership and flexibility.

From idea to over $2.5 million in funding with Krit #

In 4 weeks, we built a prototype Lauren Sturdivant could share with investors and potential customers. Within four days of launching the initial version of the app, Lauren closed her first deal. Since then, Lauren has raised over $2.5 million in funding and 10x-ed her team.

Krit brought my vision to life, and in the end I not only consider the Krit team to be colleagues, I consider them to be my trusted friends.

Frequently asked questions #

What should I consider when looking for an iPhone App Development company?

Here are the questions we recommend you ask when you evaluate an app company: What do customers say about working with them? What is their track record for delivering apps on time and on budget? What success stories can they showcase? Are their processes, tech stacks, and contracts founder-friendly?

Most importantly, we recommend you ask yourself: Can I trust this company? You’ll work closely with whoever you hire for a minimum of 3 months. So make sure you enjoy interacting with the team, and make sure you trust them to act in your best interests.

When should I build an iPhone App vs a Web app or a responsive website?

The answer depends on your customers, how often they need to access the app, where they’ll access the app, and how they’ll gain value from your app. It also depends on your budget and the information you need to manage. If you’re wrestling with these questions, we’d love to help you think through this on a free strategy call!

What's the benefit of building an iPhone App vs an Android app?

While iPhone users only represent a fraction of the global app market, they make up over 45% of the US market. iPhone users spend more on their apps, fall into a higher income bracket, and update their software more regularly.

Should I build a native iPhone app or use a platform like Ionic or React Native?

For starters, we don’t use Ionic. We wouldn’t build our own apps on it, so we’d never build a client app on it either. The quality of React Native is much higher and delivers a number of advantages. The code is primarily written in javascript, which is good news for founders; javascript developers are easy to find. In many cases, the cost and time savings of a React Native app make a lot of sense. If you’re debating a native iPhone app vs. React Native app, we’d love to help you find the right fit on a free strategy call.

Can I launch on iPhone first? Or do I need to launch on both iPhone and Android?

It depends on your customer base and budget. Launching on one platform can be cheaper. Whether you need to launch on both iPhone and Android depends on your customers, as well as which native features you need to access. Your timeline is also a factor. It can take months to get approval to get into the app store. So if you’re building an iPhone app, you’ll want to start the approval process for your developer account as soon as possible.

How much does it cost to build an iPhone App?

The general rule is this: The more stuff you want in your app, and the more complex each piece is, the more it’s going to cost. Very complex apps can cost over $150,000. More streamlined and minimal apps come in around $70,000. Most apps we build for clients initially cost $75,000 to $100,000.

How long does it typically take to develop an iPhone app?

Our average delivery time is 3 to 6 months. You can expect a roadmap in month 1, a prototype in month 2, and a functional product in under 6 months.

What sets Krit apart from other app development shops?

Two key differences include a transparent approach and an emphasis on design. Since 2018, we’ve been an Open Agency. This means we publicly share our income, expenses, and salaries. As our client, you can expect the same level of transparency in our communications and project management. On the design front, we’ve seen firsthand how a beautiful app establishes instant credibility in the marketplace. Every app we build is custom-designed to wow and delight your customers.

What would I need to prepare for the initial call?

You’ll receive the most value from our initial call if you can outline the following: your customer, the problem you’re tackling, your elevator pitch, budget, timeline, and the biggest concerns you have. These don’t have to be perfectly polished, of course. We know you’re still figuring a lot of things out! But the more you can tell us, the more direction we’ll be able to give you.
